How it works
Similarity awards 3 points for each letter in the same position and 1 point for each letter elsewhere. Each occurrence counts once. TRACE and CRATE score 11.
After colours are applied, possible answers and eligible test words are ranked by expected elimination. The program tries each eligible guess against every remaining answer, groups the possible colour patterns, and calculates the average number of answers left. It assumes each remaining answer is equally likely. Lower average remaining is better. Equal elimination scores are ordered by estimated usage frequency, most common first. With only one or two possible answers, only those answers are suggested. Possible answers must reproduce every saved Wordle colour pattern. Test words are also checked from the full dictionary: they may omit or move greens and reuse grey letters, but must include confirmed yellow letters in their required quantities, avoiding every position previously marked yellow for that letter. Test words may be unsuitable for Wordle Hard Mode. Repeated letters are handled by matching greens first.
The top 20 opening guesses appear immediately. They are precomputed against the full word list using expected elimination. Choose one or enter your own word, set its colours, then apply them to see suggestions. After applying colours it ranks eligible guesses against all surviving possible answers. Selecting a suggestion loads it for your next Wordle attempt; it does not remove its group. Up to 20 words appear initially, with more available. Equal similarity scores also use the dictionary’s frequency order, most common first. Expected remaining counts include the identified answer for an all-green result.
